GMT No 87- Summer 2024

GMT WATCH SAFARI?

GMT is celebrating its 24th anniversary in a number of ways throughout 2024: a new model, a limited series of 24 TAG Heuer Carrera Twin Time GMTs presented during Watches and Wonders, a collab with De Bethune to revive the DB24, as well as a new volume of The Millennium Watch Book dedicated to GMTs and worldtimers, featuring Patek Philippe’s unrivalled expertise in the field. We’re also creating the first GMT Watch Safari, a week of Swiss lifestyle discovery and Manufacture visits from Geneva to Schaffhausen, for 24 readers from around the world. A first on this scale, because passion knows no frontiers at GMT! Be part of this first edition that is set to be historic. The same could be said about the Monaco split-seconds chronograph featured on the cover and which firmly entrenches TAG Heuer in the world of Haute Horlogerie – a field that Vacheron Constantin has mastered to perfection for almost 270 years. The Maison opened the doors of its Manufacture to us for a deep-dive day into the vast diversity of its watchmaking talent. When it comes to heritage, Cartier’s is inexhaustible, according to CEO Cyrille Vigneron in the interview we share here. To what exact extent? History is also spread around and shared when it comes to pre-owned watches, which are enjoying a moment right now and in which we also took an interest in order to shed some
light on the topic for our readers. History doesn’t repeat itself when it comes to innovation and the latter is clearly the watchword for many members within our fine watchmaking community. In this issue, we take a look at the latest breakthroughs in the field of regulators – buckle up for the ride!
Summer is thus shaping up nicely, with the Fifth Geneva Watch Days edition just around the corner, and autumn even more so with our GMT Watch Safari on the horizon. We’ve been taking you on a journey through the wonderful world of watchmaking for 24 years and now we’re walking the talk – so make the most of it!
