Are you interested in Haute Horlogerie? Are you a watches aficionado? Since 2000, GMT Magazine tells you more about the inside of watchland.
GMT is celebrating its 24th anniversary in 2024. As a magazine with a name like this, a year ahead of the quarter-century mark, let’s take the opportunity to celebrate our 24 years of existence and as many time zones around the world covered by this useful function with which this title is intrinsically associated. During this period corresponding to the dawn of the third millennium, it’s probably no exaggeration to say that watchmaking has evolved more than it had across the previous four centuries. Not in terms of the major horological complications – all of which had already been invented – but rather in terms of design, materials, performance, precision, players, volume, distribution and stakes. We studied these fundamental trends with our partner M&BD Consulting, who surveyed hundreds of professionals and consumers
and analyzed thousands of responses. This is the first major qualitative survey on the challenges and trends in contemporary watchmaking, the results of which will be unveiled in our Watches and Wonders April issue of GMT. It’s one of our 24-year milestones. This year’s addition to The Millennium Watch Book collection will naturally be dedicated to GMT and worldtimer watches, while our club members will be delighted to discover limited series also featuring this
theme. Not to mention other surprises! Meanwhile, let’s congratulate Audemars Piguet, which once again picked up the “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève for its Code 11.59 Ultra-Complication Universelle
RD#4; as well as the organizers of Dubai Watch Week, which brought the watchmaking community together in grand
style in November 2023. Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe underlines the importance of this event in his exclusive interview. Let’s also spare a thought for the Only Watch family, bruised by the circumstances that forced its founder to postpone the event that we look forward to attending until 2024. How about 52 issues a year in 2024? GMT won’t become a weekly,
but that’s the number of issues that will appear this year if one adds up the editions of each franchise partner around the world, including almost half with our Tatler GMT joint venture in Asia. Until then, through this generous reading experience, we wish you a truly excellent year in 2024.
