WATCHMAKING WONDERLAND

How could one not speak of a watchmaking firework display? Geneva Watch Days got the ball rolling right after the vacation period, immediately followed by the Only Watch global road show, the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève travelling exhibition – with two stopovers in Hong Kong and Macao – and the Timeless show organized by Tatler GMT, our joint venture with Asia’s largest luxury platform. After a short detour to Mexico City’s SIAR and Düsseldorf’s WatchTime, the crowning event in this parade of watchmaking initiatives brings together 60 of the world’s leading brands under the aegis of Dubai Watch Week at the end of November. We’ll tell you all about it then, as GMT and our WorldTempus website will be reporting on all these events and passionate companies. This generous fall issue should satisfy plenty of readers. It goes without saying that GMT Publishing’s role is to analyze and share these wonderful stories with expertise and passion, while actively contributing as a player within this community. This is notably the case with the publication
of the new volume in our The Millennium Watch Book collection, dedicated this year to chronographs; as well as with the creation
of small limited series of watches for our club members. As watchmaking emulation reaches new heights while the year draws to a close, the Everest of creativity and the exceptional looms large in the skies above Only Watch, the amazing biennial event celebrating its tenth edition and to which we are logically dedicating our main feature. Here, too, around 60 have taken up this challenge, including Jacob & Co. as featured on the cover of this issue and whose highly evocative The World is Yours model illustrates this universal momentum. This booming, exuberant brand has once again been nominated for the GPHG, while also building the tallest skyscraper in Dubai and creating the Billionaire credit card. To keep your feet on the ground while dreaming of lightness and treasures of all sizes, we suggest an excursion to watchmaking wonderland and its various Manufactures.
