GMT No 76 - Printemps 2022

STUNNING TURNAROUND

How can we rejoice at the spectacular upturn in the watch industry since last year, when the sound of boots on the ground at the gates of Europe is following on from mask-wearing, which is now optional? Doubtless by paying tribute to the artisans and creators who have poured all their energy and passion into designing fabulous watches, by marveling at the wealth of imagination, rigorous discipline and talent they have developed to spark emotions in those who will fall in love with them. And also by reminding ourselves that the role of a watchmaking magazine such as GMT is to enable people to discover, to explore and to enjoy the pleasures of escaping from a daily life of which the unpleasant aspects are sufficiently covered in the vast majority of general media. It so happens that several pleasing pieces of news have recently brightened the watchmaking horizon. Starting with the Watches and Wonders international watch fair, inspiring Time To Watches and a myriad of concomitant exhibitions taking place in Geneva in early April.

The intensity and diversity of the new models unveiled on this occasion prompted us to increase our page count – especially since your GMT magazine, which was of course was unable to celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2020, is getting a makeover. A revitalized layout, a more coherent information architecture, more varied and focused articles are all accompanied by enhanced synergies with our website WorldTempus.com and our Fine Watch Club for collectors. Together, we are offering more videos to our readers, audio content, along with a brand-new app featuring the work of our passionate experts. This platform will also showcase our The Millennium Watch Book collection, with its 2022 theme devoted to diving watches. This strengthening of the quality of our editorial content will also benefit readers in the Middle East, where GMT has entrusted its license to a passionate entrepreneur, Deremi Ajidahun, who already publishes GMT Africa. In South Korea, our franchisee turned GMT into a monthly magazine in 2021, a feat that has been hailed by all watch lovers in that region. Back to our timepieces, which are absolutely stunning in this spring issue and that we invite you to admire at leisure.
