THE LARGE WATCH INDUSTRY FAMILY

Once again reunited at joint events whose return has been enthusiastically welcomed, the large watch industry family has been having a great time since the start of the new season. The second edition of Geneva Watch Days; the Monaco launch of the Only Watch road show; the exhibition and awards ceremony of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève; an evening event hosting 350 VIPs to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the GPHG and WorldTempus; and of course the SIAR show in Mexico and Dubai Watch Week also taking place this fall. GMT and our partner site WorldTempus bring you the essence of these happenings, notably in this issue which treats you to the GPHG catalog for which we interviewed the two great unifying figures of the watchmaking family: Carine Maillard (director of the GPHG) and Luc Pettavino (founder of Only Watch). The list of festivities also includes the 25th anniversary of Parmigiani Fleurier, which is accompanying its entry into a new quarter century with a spectacular metamorphosis, as reflected in our coverage of the Tonda PF collection unveiled during Geneva Watch Days. In this very special year that also marks the 220th anniversary of the invention of the tourbillon, we are devoting our Design dossier to its eternal youthfulness, and our test bench to the impressive Royal Oak automatic tourbillon chronograph, nominated for this year’s GPHG. A sure sign that our passion for watchmaking remains undimmed and that our desire to share is as strong as ever, the Watch Photo Awards has a new winner and the Fine Watch Club welcomes a new Secretary General, with a view to a hectic 2022 season! Meanwhile, two other editions of GMT will be published in November (our Lady special) and December – for the festive (family) season!
